Automating validation and transaction processing…
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama Adopts
Foresight Technology for Claims Performance
Columbus, OH, August 19, 2004
– Foresight Corporation, the leading provider of advanced
business solutions for healthcare, announced an agreement under
which Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama will incorporate advanced
technology from Foresight into their transaction processing system
to reduce costs and provide consistency of claims rejection policies
across all lines of their business.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, based
in Birmingham, AL, is the largest payer in the state, administering
health and dental insurance plans for the employees and dependents
of 29,000 companies. In total Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama
processes more than 60 million claims per year. Foresight, located
in Dublin, OH, is the market leader in providing transaction processing
solutions within the healthcare industry.
Under the agreement, Blue Cross and Blue Shield
of Alabama will utilize Foresight’s HIPAA Validator® DeskTop
and InStream™ technologies within their transaction processing
system. Automating validation and response generation on an enterprise-wide
basis, using document splitting based on specific error types, will
permit Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama to enforce a consistent
set of claims rejection policies. Benefits include: enhanced provider
relations, reduced call center traffic, lower technical support
costs and fewer paper claims. DeskTop and InStream are members of
Foresight's HIPAA Validator family of products, which is widely
used within the industry.
InStream comes bundled with a wide range of options
to customize the validation experience to best fit any partner community.
The system provides a choice of reporting options for partners,
regardless of their HIPAA knowledge. Using a unique profiling system,
the type of edits and strength of edits may also be uniquely customized
for groups of partners or for individual organizations. The Foresight
InStream technology affords a number of native API/command-line
integration options that provide a best fit for any given UNIX or
Windows processing system.
